Terms of Service - Pinyinize

Please read these terms carefully before using Pinyinize. By creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Pinyinize, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the service. We may update these terms at any time, and your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

Pinyinize provides Chinese learning and productivity tools, including Chinese-to-Pinyin conversion, Pinyin-to-Chinese conversion, AI-powered translation into Chinese, and a graded Chinese reader. Some features are free, while premium features may require credits, a reader pass, or another paid access option shown at the time of use.

3. Account Registration and Security

You may create an account using your email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Credit System and Payments

Premium features may be accessed through credits, a reader pass, or other paid access options. Prices and included features are displayed before purchase. Credits may have an expiration date as specified at the time of purchase or trial activation. Expired credits cannot be recovered. Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time; previous purchases are not affected by price changes.

5. Anti-Fraud and Abuse Policy

Each new user may use one free trial. We use pseudonymized identifiers (such as hashed payment and email information) to detect and prevent trial abuse, including creating multiple accounts to claim repeated trials. Abuse of the trial system, automated or scripted access to the conversion service, circumventing rate limits, or any attempt to exploit the credit system may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund. Fraud-prevention identifiers are retained even after account deletion as permitted under applicable data protection laws for the legitimate purpose of preventing fraud.

6. Intellectual Property

The Pinyinize application, its design, code, and branding are the intellectual property of Pinyinize. Text you submit remains your property. Outputs generated by the service may be used freely by you for any purpose. We may use anonymized and aggregated usage patterns to improve the service, but this data cannot be traced back to you or your original text. Some features use licensed or open-source language resources. See our Licenses page for attribution details. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Pinyinize application.

7. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use Pinyinize to submit content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or violates the rights of others; to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service or its infrastructure; to use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service without prior written permission; to interfere with or disrupt the service or overload our infrastructure; or to impersonate another person or entity.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Our AI-powered features use third-party language services to generate helpful language output. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated output may contain errors, especially with rare terms, specialized wording, or ambiguous context. AI outputs should not be relied upon as the sole source of truth for professional, academic, or official publications without manual verification. We continuously improve Pinyinize but cannot guarantee error-free results.

9. Limitation of Liability

Pinyinize is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pinyinize shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the service. Upon termination, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy, except for fraud-prevention identifiers as described in Section 5. Any unused credits at the time of termination for cause are forfeited.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction in which Pinyinize operates.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users via an in-app notification banner and update the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you should discontinue use and delete your account.
